About

LASSEMO develops and produces projects across performing arts, film, and sound works. The platform is led by André Olsen Lassemo and serves as a framework for his artistic practice, with a primary focus on original works and selected collaborations. The work is primarily based in Kristiansand, Trondheim, and Oslo with projects and collaborations taking place across Norway.

ARTISTIC PRACTICE

LASSEMO is driven by a writing-based practice. The written text is the starting point and primary force behind the work, shaping projects across performing arts, film and sound-based formats.

The writing often draws from stories situated at the margins of society, focusing on people and environments shaped by exclusion, institutional pressure and unequal power relations. Characters frequently find themselves either outside a community or inside systems they have limited power over. Choices exist, but they are rarely entirely free. Rather than explaining these structures from the outside, the work seeks to examine them from within: through the relationships, actions and consequences of the people living under them.

As both a playwright and performer, André actively uses the rehearsal room as part of the writing process. New stage work is developed through workshop periods with actors, where the material is tested on its feet and the discoveries made in the room feed directly into subsequent rewrites. Across formats, the aim is to trust action, situation and what remains unspoken, rather than explaining what the audience can experience for themselves.

Projects are developed both independently and through close collaboration. Depending on the work, André takes on roles as playwright, producer, director and performer, allowing projects to be followed from early development through production and presentation.
